About Me
A horror junkie and enthusiast of all things strange, mysterious and macabre, until the plague disturbed the Earth, I was online editor of Metal Hammer magazine. There, I kept Hammer’s site and various social channels up-to-date, reported on the latest metal trends and attempted to inject as much black, doom and extreme metal into every nook and cranny of the website as possible.
A Cardiff-trained magazine journalist, I came to journalism through my love of culture, particularly music and film. I ran several blogs throughout my time as an undergraduate, most predominantly Metropol - a blog devoted to horror b-movies – later developed into Chicks and Chainsaws – a horror blog from a tongue-in-cheek feminist point of view. When I wasn't blogging, I studied Ancient History, Cultural Criticism and English Literature – focusing mostly on film, the Gothic and feminism.
As a journalist, I've worked as a staff writer, digital editor, online editor, production editor, freelance writer, digital communications assistant and bookazine editor across brands such as Creative Bloq, ImagineFX, 3D World, Metal Hammer, the National Museum of Wales, Guitar World, Guitar Player, Electronic Musician, Den of Geek, Marie Claire, PetsRadar and much, much more!
Currently, I work as a bookazine editor for Future PLC and freelance writer from my cosy abode just down the road from the haunt of Arthur Machen. In my spare time, I clean up after two fluffy feline overlords, adorn my house with strange and unusual items, watch horror films, binge true crime podcasts and visit haunted places.
